the terminal

The Terminal movie was released in 2004 as comedy-drama film based on a true story. The film is co-produced and directed by Steven Spielberg starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Tom Hanks is trapped in British Airways Terminal 7 at JFK International Airport when he is denied entry into the United States and cannot return to his native country. Spielberg could not find an actual airport that would let him film for the length of the production so The Terminal set was built in a massive hangar at the Palmdale Regional Airport. Everything functioned on the set as in real life. Each of the outlets and concession stores featured in the concourse building was built by the real company according to full earthquake construction codes. Hudson News was built in the center of the concourse and can be seen when Viktor (Hanks) first views the news of the revolution in his native country.
